In the cold and bitter winter,
When frost’s fiery fingers chill;
When lumps of frozen ground,
Iron clad in ice lie still -
Under a deep black, morning mantled sky;
Then wonder I, at the fallow wasted land,
Where in the summer, green grass grew,
And every daye freshe blankets of floures,

Sprinkled the meadows with dusty showers.
Where in springtime,…

I saw a vision,
Paint it... Paint it...
Write it in paint.
Color it -
Make the dark clouds light or pink.
Dip your brush,
Do not think. . .
Make the coffee colored day
Your way,
Your way.

Pray - and say -
- We will play
With created things,
Make the winter trees,
Wear a summer breeze.
Call the children,
Come and see!
What I can do.
And you c…

The first frost of the year!
Even if I would,
This I cannot ignore.

I must leave my book
And take a look.
Come along with me and see
Tiny flashing icicles
On blades of grass
Smiling at me
Stretching themselves
In the morning sun.
What a wonder!
What a beauty -
God’s breath frozen on the ground
Look! Look! - what we ha…

One day God
Will gently close my eyes -
Cover me
Carry me - infinite and wise -
To a place I’ve always known,
His house - my home.
Until then, the tempest rages -
Wild beasts break out from cages -
Howling demons spit and hiss,
Stones of hate are thrown at me -
Whips and lashes, knives and needles,
Torture me relentlessly -
Through dark night -
There is no light,
There is no way to get away
Until - until - one day. . .
God
Will come and gently close my eyes.
Cover my nakedness
And…

When the path gets rocky and the way gets rough That’s when. . .
Hmmmm? Of course, ‘tough’ rhymes,
But it’s so predictable and ordinary. . .
We are looking for something extra-ordinary.
But, there is no extraordinary. . .
Times cause the rough road
For everybody.
And it is ‘ordinary’.
Another day’s work in the ER -
Heart attacks, deaths, bullet wounds
And punctured lungs
Of workmen falling from high-rises,
Painting them fresh, and stoned out of their minds.
So…..…

Here comes the Yum Yum machine,
Slurp : Slurp : Slurp ~
Its favorite food is cold ice-cream,
Slurp: Slurp: Slurp ~
It also likes buttered toast,
Anchovies, corn and hot-pot roast.
Slurp: Slurp: Slurp ~
Once I gave it a can of beer,
Slurp: Slurp: Slurp ~
It must have thought it tasted queer
Slurp: Slurp: Slurp ~
Cause it turned round,…

Bewildered he sat
What was that?
He could not focus.
The brain had gone.
The mind too.
The body was dead.
Yet, he saw it all.
So who, and where was he?
And what was he?
That he saw it all?
Shall we ever know?
Do we need to know?
Is it our affair,
That we are here?

Questions that can be asked,
But not answered,
Except by conjecture,
And vainglorious assessment.
What merriment.
The Divine Come…

♫ Oh I’m a gettin’ closer to them glory days,

Oh, I’m a gettin’ closer to them glory days,
In so many, so many, so many ways -
♫
Ah see it in ma face
All wrinkled an’ brown, ♫
I see it on ma head,
A glory- ♫- diamond crown -
I see it in ma laigs,
All wobbly and blue,
And, I see it in the sky
Jus’ a’waitin’ ’to die. ♫
Yea! Yea! Yea... ♫
I’m a getting closer to them glory days,

A beaming John McCain stepped down from the B2 bomber at Andrews air force base this morning. Helped down the ladder by the pilot, Colonel Milton “Corky” McCorkindale, McCain brusquely brushed aside all protocol and stepped rapidly up to the makeshift podium and the waiting press corps.
“I have just returned from a mission to the Ellesmere military facility in Nunavut, eastern Canada. I went there at President Obama’s personal request,” said the Senator and decorated…

All I want to do is write!
Write! Write! Write!
Write without ceasing,
Forever and ever,
Whatever the weather,
In snow and in heather.
Whichever the day.
Whatever the time,
Whether in prose,
Or whether in rhyme.
I don’t care for formal time.
All I want to do is write!
Write! Write! Write!
Write with all my might. . .
Write the things I see and feel
Write things that are impossibeel
- Invisible, debatable, unforgettable. . .
Create without ceasing,
Like breathing and thinking:

I walked my dog under shady autumn trees
Blowing red - golden green, were the leaves.
Falling so soon. . .this year.
The air is fresh,
The contrasts clear,
Willows, conifers in the air. . .
How could you God,
Make things so fair?
Nothing has changed since I was a boy. . .
Blowing autumn leaves are always a joy.
Always a joy.
Bright breezes, spread along the gro…

He had a wide red face,
His teeth were uneven and grew apace,
Like discolored corn -
Hither and thither,
Leaving wide gaps for air
And empty spaces.
His mouth was grinning
And went round and round
His face several times.
It wound its way through chubby cheeks
And wide blue pop-eyes,
Looking independently
Backwards and forwards,
And from side to side.
He could drive a car,
But not far.
He had to change eyes
Every few miles,
Which he did uncomplainingly,
With one of his smiles.
Unc…

I prayed -
I asked the universe,
What’s the most evolutionary, creative step for me,
To do, right now?
I saw a vision -
Ulysses tied to a mast.
A ship plowing through ~~
Blue ocean billows.
White foam,
Bucking bronco buccaneer -
And the sirens sang -
And the sirens wept -
And the sirens slept -
And Ulysses struggled,
With all his might,
But he was lashed fast`,
To the mast.

Write it down.

Show me; draw back apace; look closely at that clearing - that space.
What do you see?
A circle of daisies? Blades of grass? Bare patches with pebbles? Eternity?
Which one? For that will determine the outcome, my son?
What do you perceive?
I see all of them, I believe.
Hmmm. I see. A puzzle to behold.
You see all of them? You are so very bold.
I shall have to consult my book.
Just wait, I will take a look.
It says here: “Any applicant who sees daisies, grass and pebbles and eternity all in one…

Come, it’s not so hard as it seems -
Have a glass of wine with me,
Tell me your troubles, honestly.
Caught in a land of no in-betweens
From here to there, I look in despair.
To face north or south is the choice -
Or east or west?
Which is best?
Good, better, best?
What are those?
Comparative adjectives -
In old yellowing textbooks?
Nothing mat…

Put the words in my mouth, O God,
That my heart may express
The glory of Thy ways -
The steady shining of Thy Be-ing,
The depth of Thy love,
The breadth of Thy understanding,
The power of Thy infinite compassion.

Put the words in my mouth
Heavenly Father -
That my heart,
With the heart of Jesus,
May sing out to tell
Of your never-ending love.
Of your beauty,
And your wonders.…

Here is how. Get fresh chestnuts and split them slightly open (I use garden cutters, but a knife will do – only they are slippy; be careful not to cut yourself.)
Pour oil – vegetable, peanut, canola, olive – any kind – over the nuts. Just a bit, so they are shiny on the outside and the oil seeps in when being roasted helping to dislodge them from the shell.
Then put the handful of oi…
